Shortly after Dr. Gupta joined the company in 2001, she developed the first biocatalytic process, which was successfully implemented by our customer.  Dr. Gupta’s expertise is in the biochemistry and physiology of microorganisms, as well as in protein chemistry and enzyme kinetics. She has built up a powerful R&D team at Cambrex IEP and directs all of scientific and business activity. Dr. Gupta has received various recognitions for her academic excellence and has generated numerous patents for Cambrex IEP.

Maria Bobkova is Head of Molecular Biology. After receiving her bachelor degree at the Lomonosov University in Moscow, she obtained her diploma in biology at the Goethe-University in Frankfurt. Before joining the company in 2002, Mrs. Bobkova worked on her PhD thesis at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute in Langen, where she established the specific gene transfer in human stem cells at the Department of Medicinal Biotechnology. Mrs. Bobkova’s expertise is in molecular biology, cloning techniques and biochemistry. At Cambrex IEP she has developed a molecular screening method for the discovery of new enzymes. Mrs. Bobkova has established a tool box of more than 100 over-expressed proprietary new enzymes including oxidases, secondary and primary dehydrogenases as well as steroid- and amino acid- dehydrogenases for use on industrial scale.

Anke Tschentscher is Head Process Development & Technology Transfer. Mrs. Tschentscher has received her diploma in biotechnology at the University of Applied Science in Jena and joined the company in 1999. She was the first employee at Cambrex IEP and was responsible for establishment of the R&D facility in Wiesbaden. Mrs. Tschentscher is an expert in chiral analytics, including HPLC, GC, and GC-MS. She has contributed to the development of more than 10 industrial-scale biocatalytic processes. Additionally, Mrs. Tschentscher is also responsible for technology transfer to customers and quality assurance.
